There’s nothing more special than the moment you meet a doggo, and you just know they’re the missing piece of your family.
When fellow photographer Emily met the Finnish Lapphund pup that would soon become their sweet Lumi, she fitted herself into her new hu-mum role immediately. Lumi slept all the way to her new home. On arrival, though – the minute she was set down on the living room floor – she overflowed with joy and excitement. It’s a favourite memory for her new pawrents and one they still treasure today!
The most wonderful part of what we do at Puppy Tales is helping you preserve magic moments with adored dogs – doggos, pups, pupperinos, furkids, furry babies – all the names we’ve heard over the years. It’s always an honour to become part of your story this way. As a wedding and engagement photographer, Emily is known for capturing the bonds of love in beautiful photos, and it was hugely flattering to be asked to record the special bond she and her partner, Robert, have with Lumi.

It’s particularly fun to collaborate creatively, and it was high on Emily’s priority list to capture Lumi’s happy energy against the vibrant sunset and with magical glowing backlighting. The slightly overcast weather at the beginning of the session allowed us to snap the best of Lumi’s light colouring and our magical location, and come sunset, the clouds parted just long enough to capture some gorgeous colours.
As for the adorable dog smile, that’s all, Lumi! Beyond the aesthetics of the photos, it was impawtant to Emily and Robert to capture Lumi’s happy, active, and friendly nature for their dog photography session at the Canberra Arboretum. It’s simply impawsible not to be infected with her joyful energy.
