As you know, it can be a challenge finding spectacular holiday destinations which cater for both dogs and humans, and the challenge is even greater when it comes to holiday destinations involving snow because most Victorian snow fields are located in National Parks and dogs are not allowed. I love watching my dog experience ‘the joy of the snow’, and the resulting photographs are some of my favourites!
What’s so special about dogs in the snow? Well, to begin with, it’s a playground like no other they’ll ever experience – from the crispy crackling crust, to the flying powder, and it brings out the playful puppy personality in every dog. … Then there’s the light – and I can hardly begin to tell you how the glittering snow, and luminous atmosphere adds magical reflections, soft lighting effects and shadows to your photographs whether the sun is shining or not.

When we discovered that Akemi Photography were holding snow photography sessions at Dinner Plain we had to be there! Taking our Siberian Huskies to the snow was something we had wanted to do for a long time and a snow photoshoot was the perfect excuse to finally make it happen and enjoy a relaxing holiday ourselves. Just wanted to say a huge thank you for the wonderful time at Dinner Plain, it is such a beautiful place to stay and getting awesome photos made the trip even more special. We were surprised how well the dogs took to the snow I think they had just as much fun as we did (maybe even more).
