Scruffy Murphy to star in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Scruffy Murphy is one lucky dog! About 18 months ago he ran out onto a busy road in peak hour traffic and was hit by a car. Luckily for him this car was driven by Vet Nurse Natalie Will who quickly assessed him and saw he was fine.

Scruffy’s lovely nature immediately won Natalie over but she felt she had to take him to a pound as she was sure his owner would be searching for him. After having cheated death twice, this little dog was taken along by Natalie to the ‘pawditions’ for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The musical was giving eight dogs the chance to be an onstage star and get paid up to $160 a week if they got a part.

Scruffy ended up doing so well he will appear in every show and has a special part all by himself. Natalie said “Scruffy Murphy is very sweet and endearing. He’s a very relaxed dog, fantastic around people and not bothered by noise or lights.”

Scruffy is just 4.4kgs and is part Shih Tzu, part Chihuahua and part wire-haired Dachshund. So if you get along to seeing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in Sydney look out for this little star on-stage.

Natalie who works at Mosman Veterinary Hospital has also adopted four other dogs, three cats, two parrots and three chickens. What an amazing family Scruffy now has!
