Featured product: SavourLife Dog Treats

Being an Australian Dog Blog, we love to see new Australian-made dog products pop up on the scene. But an Australian company that dedicates 50% of their profits to pet rescue organisations made us jump up out our seats. SavourLife is the name of this new company and they have recently launched their treat range.

SavourLife is part of a new wave of social enterprises that allow their customers to do something good just by purchasing their products. Michael, the founder of SavourLife, said “we started with the goal of saving rescue dogs’ lives and then created a premium product range that helped support our vision.”

In Australia over 400,000 animals are abandoned each year and approximately 180,000 of these are euthanised — I know, so sad! So one of SavourLife’s aims is to reduce the number of euthanised dogs by donating half of their profits to their partner pet rescue organisations, helping them to find at-risk dogs a new home. Currently the partner rescue groups include: Sydney Dogs and Cats Home, Pets Haven Animal Shelter, BFR and Staffy Rescue.

But here is the extra cool part! Not only do you know that some of your money is helping rescue groups, you also get to track the progress of a dog your purchase is assisting by entering a 7-digit code on your packet into a form on the website. Our two packets are helping the gorgeous Roxy and Dawn (below). You also have the ability to help in re-homing your dog more quickly, by using the code to share your dog’s profile via social media.

The treats

Here is the exciting bit of information for YOUR dog — the treats. The SavourLife range of strips and biscuits come in beef or chicken flavours and contain no artificial favours or colours. They also contain Omega 3 and 6, and promote healthy teeth and gums. The treats are available in 150 outlets across Australia and can be purchased online through the SavourLife website.
